Will you try to bring this fable to its end with your own hands?
I’ll carve a pain strong enough to wake me from this dream with you.
It was colored with the rainbow, the pleasant view before my eyes.
I was plunged into kindness and warm words which rained without hesitation,
In madness I sang a happy song,
Of imitation rubbish, all the while lying to myself.
Without turning back to anyone, I began to sink1 in this sweet honey.
Will you try to bring this fable to its end with your own hands?
I’ll carve a pain strong enough to wake me from this dream with you.
Alice in Wonderland seemed to have fun being mad.
She lost herself1 in this sweet honey.
Will you try to bring this fable to its end with your own hands?
I’ll carve a pain strong enough to wake me from this dream with you.
The future and my hopes, melting in honey, disappeared.
Near to death, Alice thought,
“I think I should have stopped back at that time.”
She said this to me2, and then melted into the honey.
1: Machige does a lot of word play in this song. Here he uses the word “shinde/沈んで,” which means to sink. But it sounds the same as “shinde/死んで” which means to die. So while it’s written to sink in honey, it sounds a lot like “to die in honey.” I know he did that on purpose so I wanted to mention it!
2: Machige writes “芋虫/imomushi,” which means caterpillar, but has Keke sing “ぼく/boku,” which means me, instead.
